160 cups of boba, 100 bottles of zbiotics, 110 bottles of soju, 15 pints of ice cream, countless plates of dim sum, braised beef, lasagna, tacos…

If you want to ensure that your party is going to be fun, you need to do little more than invite Jess and Ed to your event. Since this wedding was the couple’s own event, you were pretty much guaranteed it was going to be a blast. Both Jess and Ed are super foodies, so the festivities actually started the night before when they took their wedding party to hot pot for the rehearsal dinner. The wedding day started with the ceremony held on the lantern lined staircase at the Asian Art Museum with guests watching from overhead. Cocktails were held on the Loggia with guests encouraged to view some of the open art galleries on the 2nd floor. After cocktails, the party really started. In lieu of a sit-down dinner, guests were invited to try foods from various regions at several different stations. While eating, they could open their favors, which were custom shot glasses, and partake in some of the soju at each dining table. Instead of the traditional first dance, the couple started out the night with karaoke, singing a duet. Fortunately, their friends were not karaoke shy and what followed was two and a half hours of friends and family singing, some very good, some not quite as good, but all equally fun to watch and hear. In keeping with the non-traditional elements, the father/daughter and mother/son dance became a group choreographed number, with Ed’s father leading the way as Ed gave directions on the moves. As the karaoke came to a close, the couple ducked out and re-entered to some of the fastest, craziest electronic music I’ve ever heard at a wedding. Those still hungry could grab a bite of dessert or a cup of instant noodles. And, for anyone who still had an ounce of energy, the party continued afterwards at the couple’s hotel. I knew from my first conversation with the bride that it was going to be a great night and I wasn’t disappointed! Congratulations!!
