Many years ago, I was surprised when I found out a young couple was using Anne Murray’s “Can I Have This Dance” as their first dance song. The song originally came out in 1980, before the bride was even born. The bride’s mom said her daughter had an old soul. For some reason, the song pop into my head the other day and I realized that it really is the perfect first dance song:

“Could I have this dance for the rest of my life?
Would you be my partner every night?
When we’re together it feels so right
Could I have this dance for the rest of my life?”
